Lalitha Sahasranamam (36-40)

36.STANABHARADALANMADHYAPATTABANDHAVALITRAYA
Her golden belt supports her waist which bends under the burden of her breasts and makes visible the three folds of skin of the stomach under the bosom.
The mystique engulfing the human mind ,leads to think that the consciousness of Her is just begun. How am I to understand that the consciousness is being cleared from the mystical absolute, and she gives me the answer with the three folds of the waist which is the Brahmaloka,Tapoloka and the Janoloka, which is controlled by the Maaya, which is her waist band.I can say the maaya is controlling the three world for a reason.Let us look at the three worlds and then decide.
In Brahmaloka, land of Virat, All, Light enters light, and All is everywhere, Reacting one with other, in the sea Of her majesty is the creation’s core. No man, no thing, and none exists but All, Where one is many and many is one. The one is here and other, too, is here Yet none is there, as here and there are one. The next descent which’s Tapoloka called, Consciousness of outward universe Which’s “I am I”, yet Self beholding void, Where fine potentials world’s are not designed as Tanmatras, the latent patterns hide the future forms as gross elementals. The third descent called Janaloka "Pure" is dwelt by austere masters and sages. In the world of forces, subtle Tanmatras, Who in live in them and in themselves, do see the whole creation in microcosmos. These are the three, where centres multifold, 'Are' each in all, and all converge in each. Such worlds are and will ever be controlled only by her, because it is she, who created them all and it is she, who knows the interlocking of them and it is she, who leads them to the divine bliss. So the three world cries for her attention, as she showers her blessings and affection of her bhakthas and these worlds knowing fully well that the Public is God and private thought futile, That One is All; That One alone remains. The same feeling is expressed in soundarya lahiri thus:
Kuchou sadhya swidhya-sthata =ghatitha koorpasabhidurou
Kasnthou dhormule kanaka kalasabhou kalayatha
Thava thrathum bhangadhalamithi valagnam thanubhava
Thridha naddham devi trivali lavalovallibhiriva
Oh Goddess mine,Placed just below your shoulders,
By Cupid , the God of love,Tearing your blouse which is attached ,
To your body by the sweat,When you think of the greatness of your Lord,
And resembling pots of Gold,Your breasts appear to be tied by him,
securely three times,By the three creeper like folds*.
37.ARUNARUNAKAUSUMBHAVASTRABHASVATKATITATI
Her waist is bright with the rosy tinted garment
It is not suprising to find her waist bright since it was the hands which rule the world that encircles it and the touch of Lord shiva brings her waist alive to remind herself that Lord shiva needs her attention too.

Deeds mine would lead me one day,
To make the God of death, call me and punish,.
And thou who art the beautiful young lass,
With firm pretty breasts, that attracts my lord,
Would say to me then, “fear not, oh my son”.
Then I will shout, “mother, oh my mother”,
And come to you with a running rush.
38.RATNAKINKINIKARAMYARASANADHAMABHUSITA
She who wears a golden thread below her waist decorated with bells made of precious gems.
She wears a golden thread to show how the Shiv sakthi is connected to mankind Earth, water, tire, air and ether, Mind, intellect and ego-sense, Are eightfold forces God creates and these tinkling bells which she wears around her waist are the gems because these are things that leads us to knowing ourself. As dream-world's looks, my mind's revolt in fantasy, So all this world and creation Is held cohesive by the Will. The Will of God,. ties fast in gripsthe universe as one whole mass, While will of individual, holds together the body's frame.so symbolically she has hinted this in her ornament and the golden thread around her waist. The same is expressed in Mahishasura Maradhini also
Kati thata peetha dukoola vichithra,
Mayuka thiraskrutha Chandra ruche,
Pranatha suraasura mouli mani sphura ,
Damsula sannka Chandra ruche,
Jitha kanakachala maulipadorjitha,
Nirbhara kunjara kumbhakuche,
Jaya Jaya hey Mahishasura mardini ,
Ramya kapardini, shaila Suthe.
Victory and victory to you,
Oh darling daughter of the mountain,
Oh goddess, who wears yellow silks on her waist,
Which has peculiar brilliance ,That puts the moon to shame,
Oh goddess, whose toe nails shine like the moon,
39.KAMESAJNANASAUBHAGYAMARDVAVORODVYANVITA
Only Kamesa knows the symmetry and the smoothness of her thighs
Her thighs represents comfort and it is place where she teaches her subjects the art of calling her, telling us how we could reach out to her.God also can be summoned by a name, provided that the name chosen, with which you summon, indicates the might and the majesty, and the affection God has for you. The mantra that people chant in japa sadhana, for instance, is supposed to be an indicator of the name of God. The mantra that you chant, into which you are supposed to be initiated, is the modus operandi adopted to create in one's own mind a suggestion of the nature of the God whom one worships and adores.such things are taught to us when we make ouself elgible to sit on her lap and listen to what she says. That is why her thighs are addressed, it carries with it, the attachment of the devotee, to that of devi which is like a son -mother or daughter-mother relationship.soundarya lahiri also tries to impart the same thing in a different form:
Karrendranam sundan kanaka kadhali kaadapatali
Umabhamurubhyam –mubhayamapi nirjithya bhavathi
Savrithabhyam pathyu pranathikatinabham giri suthe
Vidhigne janubhysm vibhudha karikumbha dwayamasi
Oh daughter of the mountain,Who knows the rules of the Vedas,
Using your two thighs,You have achieved victory over,
The trunks of the elephant,And the Golden pseudo stem of group of Banana plants,
And achieved victory over frontal globes,Of Iravatha* the divine elephant,
By your holy round knees,Which have become hard,
By repeated prostrations to your lord.
here the reference to the vedas indicate the education pattern as well .
40.MANIKYAMUKUTAKARAJANUDVYAVIRAJITA
Her knees shine like jewelled crowns.
here again it is the extension of the previous one.She also helps us to understand the beauty around us. her knees are the highest place on earth so from there she shows the beauty around us.There are little, beautiful things in the world, and you cannot know which is more beautiful than the other. On account of the fickleness of our mind, different things look beautiful at different times, but you have never seen beauty as such. Beauty, as such, cannot be seen because you are accustomed to see things through the sense organs. The sense organs can see only forms; they cannot appreciate abstract things. Mathematics, gravitation, and equations, for instance, are thoughts which cannot become objects of the sense organs. You cannot see mathematics or gravitation, etc., but the understanding of these principles gives you satisfaction. The solution of an algebraic equation brings joy, not because it is an object sitting in front of you; it is an intellectual beauty that has brought you satisfaction. such is the beauty to know things around you when you are with her.so she helps us understand this beauty and makes us a better human being and an enlightened soul.
